Super Cup in Italy and in Spain

Yesterday, two fabulous matches determined Real Madrid as the Spanish Super Cup holder, and Inter, the Italian champion, took away from AS Rome this title, that was hers for the last two years. Both matches were full of action, as top football should be. Real Madrid did it with only 9 players in the field! With Inter and AS Rome it took over time and a penalty shootout to determine the final score (6-5). The audience got the full value for its football tickets. Sports as Business, Sports as Fun
Published by Gonoa Green on Tagged Wonderful worldI am sure many of you watched yesterday’s 100M run at the Olympic Games. A world record was brilliantly broke, but you know that. The Jamaican Athlete Bolt was running and waving his hands in a weird show that shell be remembered well after the rest of these Olympic Games will be forgotten. I think what impressed me most was the obvious FUN he was having, while all the others were so DAMN serious. I don’t know whether that run was induced by drugs. I think he must be some sort of simpleton or a Zen master, to put aside the stress that way. The same stress that was written on the faces of all the other athletes. That is what really hit me and impressed me and most importantly, made me laugh. Italian Football Tickets, Marvel and Marble

So, naturally, I went there for my vacation and came back a captive fan. Not only they have some of the best football clubs in the world, and a serious approach to this important occupation, but they also have some of the best marble in the world (Remember Michelangelo?). Driving through the mountains in north Italy, I saw many factories with amazing blocs of marble in the front yard. They are not to be found in the tourists’ zones, but on side roads and small towns with little touristic interest. Even the roofs are made of slabs of the local stone. I was impressed. I even thought of bringing back one with me, but the 20 Kg. limit of my (Italian) airliner ended that scheme. I really think people should go to Italy for a restful yet active vacation. I saw thousands driving around with bicycles attached to their trunks. I even saw one car pulling a small trailer with a little hot sports car on it! They where planning to go up and down those mountains with that sports car, I am sure! You can also go to their MotoGP races, but that’s more to the south. When you do visit north Italy, see that you go to the San Siro stadium in Milan. Keep a free weekend for that good cause. You can’t be wrong there; the stadium is the home of two of the most interesting and distinguished clubs in Europe – AC Milan and the Italian champion, Inter. So, whenever one team plays at home, the other team plays away and every weekend is a celebration of football. The best way to get the full impact of the San Siro effect, try to be there when one of the local derbies is on – which happens twice a year. The next match between AC Milan and Inter on the Seria A is on the weekend of September 28th. No need to go to the carnival in Rio. It is all there, in this AC Milan vs. Inter match!

Published by Gonoa Green on Tagged News & updatesToday we have the results of the two matches held yesterday, which determined the opponent of Barcelona FC and of Juventus, in the third qualifications round of the Champions League. Wisla Krakow will face Barcelona after a 5:0 victory over a very weak Israeli Beitar Jerusalem. Juventus will face the Slovakian Artmedia Petrzalka (that wined on both legs of the previous round vs. the Finnish Tampere United). I can now say that being in Barcelona at the right moment to catch the match vs. Wisla Krakow is a very good idea. About Juventus I am less certain. Their stadium is much smaller, less than half of what the Camp Nou can host and I am sure it will be crammed… Still, if you’re around Turin at the time it is worth a try to get the tickets. Such matches have their own traditions and passions. Rumors said that the Italian Super Cup will move to another country (AKA the USA) to add to its prestige. We know now that it will be hosted by Inter, at the excellent San Siro stadium. These are very good news for Europeans that are, mostly, still on vacation around August 24th. You can easily get a low cost flight to Milan and your AS Roma tickets or Inter tickets (Depends on where your heart is…) to ensure your seat (we can help there. Use the search box on the right for online sports tickets purchase). I can hardly think of a better ending for the summer! Another short word of advice: When looking for an interesting match it is no good to look for the same prestigious matches every year. We’d all be happy to attend the Spanish Super Classico or see Manchester United play vs. Chelsea FC (September 21st weekend in London, by the way…). The point is, these matches cost much, more than 4 times of the average ticket to the Italian Super Cup! We recommend such combinations as we are sure will excite, but cost much less. Think about it! Champions League 2009 Qualifications, 3rd Round

Four favorite European clubs, each with its mass of supporters, will make an early celebration of the 3rd round of the Champions League. If you’ve never seen Barcelona, Arsenal, Juventus or Liverpool playing, this is your happy chance! The teams’ poor performance last year created an opportunity to see top football as early as mid August! The first leg of the 3rd round will be played on August 12-13 and the second leg on August 27-28. Not all the details are final. Barcelona FC will play against the winner of the match in Krakow, on August 6th, when the local Wisla will play vs. the Israeli Beitar Jerusalem. Arsenal will play away, in Netherlands, vs. Twente from Enschede, which lays not a long way east of Amsterdam. Liverpool FC will also play away from home vs. Standard de Liege from Belgium. At the moment, the dates and hours are not final, but if we’re lucky, there might be a chance to watch two great British clubs play day after day in the continent, with only a short drive from Netherlands to Belgium (or the other way around). Last on my list is Juventus. They play the first leg at home, in Turin (Torino) vs. one of the two: The Slovakian Artmedia FC or the Finish Tampere United. The Italian Serie A draw

The season is full of great sports events, and it is deffintly worth watching! Juventus will meet Fiorentina on august 31 for an early match of the season. The well expected Milano derby will occur during the 5th round on September 28 and Milan will be the home team. Another match-up between two giants will take place on October 19, AS Roma will meet Inter Milan in the Stadio Olimpico. Only 10 days later, and another huge match- Fiorentina vs. Inter Milan in the Artemio Franchi stadium- definitely worth watching! Every true football fan is probably waiting for December 14, Juventus will meet AC Milan in the Stadio Olimpico, and both teams will try to bring a nice “Christmas present” for their fans.
