Sports as Business, Sports as Fun
Published by Gonoa Green on Tagged Wonderful worldI am sure many of you watched yesterday’s 100M run at the Olympic Games. A world record was brilliantly broke, but you know that. The Jamaican Athlete Bolt was running and waving his hands in a weird show that shell be remembered well after the rest of these Olympic Games will be forgotten. I think what impressed me most was the obvious FUN he was having, while all the others were so DAMN serious. I don’t know whether that run was induced by drugs. I think he must be some sort of simpleton or a Zen master, to put aside the stress that way. The same stress that was written on the faces of all the other athletes. That is what really hit me and impressed me and most importantly, made me laugh. Sports Events 365 deals with sports tickets and we are all sports fans, but, some of us take everything ever so seriously, and some are looking for the fan and the excitement, without being too committed. The same goes when fans meet – if they are dead serious bad things happen, like when fights break outside the stadiums. I want Football to be an option for a family’s day out on the weekend, not a war zone. People get hurt from taking sports matters too deep. I know an athlete must be 100% committed to his work, especially when he ranks in the top, and must fight for his place. I know there is a lot of money involved. That is why Bolt’s attitude was so fresh and funny. I only hope his record will be found to be true and deserving. Oh God! Is it a new drug they have not yet detected that makes an athlete both FAST and HAPPY? I hope not. I hope to see many more men and women achieve their life’s ambition at the Olympic Games, with a great big smile on their face and ours.
Cheers! Gonoa Green
