Seating three together or more
When you need three tickets or more we'll do our best to seat you together; however, we cannot guarantee it.

Manchester Derby (Manchester United v Manchester City)

The Manchester Derby is the match played between the two biggest clubs in Manchester. Manchester United and Manchester City first played each other in 1881 and have met over 160 times since then.

Manchester United’s home stadium is the 75,000-seater Old Trafford. City’s home matches are played at the Etihad Stadium which seats 45,000 spectators.

Prior to Manchester City’s Qatari takeover, the club had always been in the shadow of Manchester United. City had even been relegated multiple times while United continued to win trophy after trophy.

With City’s new wealth, the match has become a much more even and indeed, important, affair. City won their first League title in decades in 2012, stealing it from holders United in the last minute of the final day of the season.

Of the clubs 165 meetings, United have 69 wins to City’s 46. City’s biggest victories over United were their 6-1 wins in 1926 and more recently in 2011. United’s biggest win again City was their 1994 5-0 home win.

The fixture’s top scorers are City’s Joe Hayes and Francis Lee and United’s Wayne Rooney, all with 10 goals. Ryan Giggs holds the record for most appearances in the derby with 69.

Despite the rivalry between the clubs, it is not unheard of for players to play for both sides. Players to have played for both clubs include Andy Cole, Peter Schmeichel, Denis Law, Brian Kidd and most controversially, Carlos Tevez. Tevez signed for City directly from United in 2009. City then put up a billboard in the City with Tevez’s face on it, to the fury on Manchester United fans.

Legendary United manager Matt Busby was himself a Manchester City player. City’s managers Steve Coppell and Mark Hughes also played for Manchester United. The only person to have managed both sides is Ernest Mangall, managing 471 matches for United before spending 12 years as manager of Manchester City.
